The Smil In A Digital Library Research

This paper briefly introduces the background of the project, and tells that National Library of China is trying to use the SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) technology to edit, make and play media resources.Then, it shows the concept, characteristics and development of digital library, and points out that SMIL technology is the important digital library of technical means in the future. Also, it focuses on the concept and features of SMIL, in particular on SMIL3.0 with the new features which are used for new technology application in various fields in the future.Last, there is the analysis and design of SMIL in the Digital Library application. It mainly focuses on two functions, the digital library resources and multimedia digital video on demand. I carefully analyze and design these two parts and create two different-style performances of SMIL as a multimedia e-book. Therefore, SMIL achieves in the application of digital libraries.
