The traditional multimedia courseware had many shortcomings, such as too large files, much complicated courseware-manufacturing and unsuitable for real-time transfer on net. In order to solve them, the author developes the Multimedia Network Teaching System.The system is composed of courseware programing subsystem and application subsystem. The first subsystem is to provide a courseware-programming system of Graphical Interface. The development of System's Courseware is the process which is carried out to manage and program the different components separately, and then use SMIL to unify these kinds of components. A key is to realize the synchronization and the interaction of the broadcast of Video & Audio and the content display in this process by using SMIL. The second subsystem is to provide an application platform which makes students choose their courseware on their preference in non-classroom instruction pattern.The design of Multimedia Network Teaching System is based on Windows DNA and COM. The key of it is how to invoke DOM by the ASP and generate courseware description document dynamically. Description document consists of XML document which is based on the LOM standard and SMIL document.The tests show that this system can stably run when many people use it at the same time. |
