Mid-infrared laser are more and more important with widening applications in laser remote sensing,laser target detecting,spectra analysis,atmospheric environment monitoring,space communicating and some applications in military.Codoped trivalent rare-earth ions Cr,Tm,Ho laser gets wide spread interest during the decade years.The laser is thought to be a ideal laser source for coherent Doppler lidar, differential absorption lidar(DIAL),laser range-Finder.This paper investigates and explores both theoretically and experimentaly in the field of the xenon lamp -side-pumped Cr,Tm,Ho:YAG laser and in its relative fields.Theoretically,the operation characters of the CTH:YAG laser have been analyzed from the crystal absorption spectrum characters,energy transfer among the ions and quasi-three-level operation.Structure and working principle of the xenon lamp-pumped systems,pumping cavity and optical resonator for Cr,Tm,Ho solid-state laser had been illuminated detailedly,and temperature distribution of the solid-state lasers was discussed under the repeat pulse-pumped circumstances.Finally,a brief analysis of the water cooling system has been given.Experimentlly,According to the experimental demand,this paper has selected instruments carefully.With an eye to the above theoretical analysis,we chose plane-parallel cavity.For the output mirror of optical resonator,we selected the plane-parallel mirror with transmittance of 10%,20%,30%,through a combination of various endoscopic,with a view to achieve the best output.In the experiment,the 2μm laser output with average power 15.5 W and electro-optical conversion efficiency 1.5%is gained under the condition of single input pulse energy 98J and reptition frequency 10Hz.At the end of this paper,a brief summary is made to theoretical and experimental,achievement and suggestion to some problem in further study is offered.
