With laser technology becoming more perfect, large-energy long-pulse solid laser has shown its advantages in many areas such as industrial processes, medical, national defense and scientific research and the demand for large-energy high-quality laser output increasingly obvious. In this paper, based on the current demand of ms-large-energy solid laser light source, of a reliable light source of interaction between laser and material, a laser with pulse width of lms and output energy of50J is developed.This paper base on the four-level rate equations, analyzed the characteristics of Nd:Glass laser energy level, thus deduces the laser threshold value and the theoretical calculation value of the energy conversion efficiency. Secondly, on the basis of theoretical analysis, carried on the design for laser as a whole, including the following contents:through the calculation of the theoretical value and xenon lamp of pumping threshold selection of explosion energy calculation pump sources were used and the design of laser power supplied; the design of the working substance; using Tracepro software respectively on the ray tracing in the condensing cavity, through simulation verified the rod pump distribution more uniform and the rationality of the design of the condenser chamber; using Matlab software to the reappearance of parallel plane cavity mode is simulated, based on the characteristics of the cavity mode distribution, designed the cavity. Finally, on the development of the various components and adjustment in the process of using Tracepro software, simulated the light path inside the cavity and the accurate positioning of the cavity; at the same time, through the experiment, the laser output energy and laser pulse width wawere tested and analyzed.Through this paper, a pulse width of1.2ms. the output energy of10~50J Nd:Glass laser was obtained, the photoelectric conversion efficiency is1%, it has been used in the experiment to research interaction between laser and material, as a stable, reliable laser source.
