Examine The Relationship Of The Commercial Press And The Modern Chinese Libraries

Commercial Press was the biggest capitalism publishing press in modern China. It made many outstanding achievements within the fifty years, and one of them was pushing forward the development of modern library enterprise. This dissertation discusses the relationship between Commercial Press and library enterprise in modern China from three aspects. Firstly, owing to the idea of satisfying the need of publishing, transmitting the national cultural heritage and serving the society, Commercial Press took part in the modern library enterprise, established the Eastern Library , and then opened up for the people. Secondly, Commercial Press made good use of itself publishing advantages, and motivated the development of modern library.enterprise. Thirdly, Commercial Press published many books about library subjects, and at the same time, trying to explore the ideas of reforming classification and indexing system for the books in libraries, which made great progress for the development of the modern library subjects. Commercial Press focused on and supported the library enterprise in modern China, embodied the ideas of modern publisher who served the society.
