TCP / IP network has created tremendous economic and social benefits in the practical application of modern communications. However, the current IP network has not completely perfect, there are many factors affecting network performance, such as packet delay, packet loss rate, throughput, bandwidth, etc. In order to maintain and improve the above factors, take the actual measurement analysis as a study, improving many IP networks means and the starting point, studying corresponding research about these bottlenecks which affect the factors. The bottleneck bandwidth, round-trip time measurements are the focus as the main measurement methods and data sources, and draw quantitative conclusions and recommendations of the corresponding solution by the adoption of the corresponding algorithm.Analysis of the IP network quality measurement is used by the bandwidth bottleneck measurement method. First on two packets packet pair circumstances algorithm, and then extended to N> 2 packet train circumstances algorithm, among which will also address whether there is cross traffic condition to discuss the changes algorithm.Bottleneck delay algorithm and bottlenecks delays positioning are discussed. Amendment algorithm is poposed by analysising previous experimental data. Simple discussion of another important parameters round-trip delay measurement method as measure network performance, including effectively determine the measured data and estimate the error, and also analysisi the relationship between packet delay and packet loss rate.The key required technologies are summarized according to existing present network measurement by analysis IP network performance measurement method and the measurement data, and organic combination the existing network measurement applications and the actual network measurement data and further analysis, proposing to improve network performance needs to be addressed several issues, and also proposing some corresponding solution in order to improve IP network in the future.
