Phase-shift laser range finder based on digital synchronous demodulationtechnology not only improves phase measurement accuracy, but also highlyincreases measurement speed. Compared with traditional laser range finder,the novel system is greatly simplified. It inaugurats a widely new way forthe application of laser range finder. However, domestic research and designabout phase-shift laser range finder based on digital synchronousdemodulation technology is few. So, application researching of this novel kindlaser range finder is very important.This article firstly presented the general situation and the basic theoryabout phase-shift laser range finder, derived laser transmit equation fromtheory analysis and discussed the effects of emission and receiving power,valid target reflection area and atmosphere absorb coefficient etc. Secondly,this article also concretely analyzed the phase estimation way of traditionalphase-shift laser range finder and discussed the novel digital synchronousdemodulation algorithms with emphasis. After that, simulation experiment hadbeen implemented and the result proved the superiority and the feasibilityof the novel digital synchronous demodulation phase estimationmethod. Finally, the structure of high dynamic laser range finders based ona novel multi-modulated frequency method was designed and the software programimplementation of this system had been discussed. It may be a reference forthe further system design.
