With the development of information technology, electronic productions widelyenter industry and life fields, which enforce requirements of data storage. This paperresearch and design a hard disk data storage system based NiosⅡCPU.Firstly; thepaper refers to background of subject and progress of international correlationalresearch, introduces system architecture. Secondly, the paper detailedly research andanalyse ATA/ATAPI protocol,including interface signals,registers and their addresscoding,data transfer protocol,command and parameter. Thirdly, the paper introducescircuit design,FPGA logic module design, system design and generation. Lastly, thepaper supplys some software designs of the system and outcome of debug.NiosⅡis the control center of system, which is a general CPU. Hard disk is datastorage media of the system. System uses designed logic controlling module as harddisk's controller. During storage, CPU firstly transfers command to hard diskcontroller designed by FPGA technology to select correlational space of hard disk,numbers of data transferred and transfer module. Command and parameter will betransferred to hard disk's registers,Serve machines will store data into hard disk. Datastored in hard disk are easy to be dealed with by PC, conveniently using for arithmeticamelioration.Soft IP NiosⅡembedded Central Process Unit based SOPC is a re-configure,pipeline and general RISC's CPU made by Altera corporation. System designer caneasily use design kits SOPC Builder to make system with CPU. It's easy to combineNiosⅡ,IP purchased,and logic modules designed by user for a completesystem, which can be compiled and downloaded into FPGA by QuartusⅡsoftware.The process of system design fully express thinking of re-configuration and SOPCdesign for application.
