Based On The Nios Processor, Hard Drive Storage System Research And Design

Because of the development of the sensing technology of image and running up of resolution of the measurement now,designers have higher requirement for not only transfer rate of the data, but also storage capacity,volume,cost,stability to the system,etc.This paper has studied and designed a kind of storage system of hard disk based on Nios processor.This system uses hard disk as storage medium,utilizes Nios embedded system based on FPGA to control hard disk and the interface for collection, realizes to collect and store the image with taking off computer, this system lets the collected data storage at hard disk, can transfer the collected data through video playback into the computer to carry on processing.Nios is based on RISC technology; it is a soft core of common embedded processor which adopts the pipelined technology and a centre of the whole system. It sends the instructions for the peripheral of hardware,for example the reading and writing instructions of hard disk , data interchange instructions among RAM,SDRAM,Flash,etc.It is not only responsible for receiving the data that the external world inputs but also run with these data, then conveys the result to the correct peripheral of hardware.The present hard disk is a standard configuration of the personal computer, and becomes the core of storage medium gradually.But IDE interface controller used on the personal computer is difficult to use on other apparatus directly.Because if the IDE interface reads and writes the hard disk, it needs operating system, driver, external bus and interface controller to work together.So we can't use existing IDE controller on the personal computer.This system consists of Nios soft core CPU,IDE controller, drive software,external store apparatus,etc.This system fully utilizes the advantage of the hard disk by breaking away from the restriction of host computer,realizes the high,heavy data storage system with reliable performance.
