As the rapid progress of Internet, people are not satisfied with transporting simple texts or picture information through Internet. More and more complex multimedia information, especially the Audio/Video sequences, becomes popular over Internet. Multimedia transport over Internet has shown an attractive communication prospect to people.At present transmits the Audio/Video information on Internet also has many difficulties, its basic reason lies in Internet the connectionless each package to retransmit the mechanism mainly is but designs for the burst characteristics data transmission, is not suitable for the transmission which flows to the continual media. In order to is effective, the high grade smooth transmission Audio/Video streaming on Internet, but also needs many kinds of technical the support.This paper first analyzed the principles of streaming media transfer and discusses the factors, which affect the smoothness of network Audio/video transfer and the related solutions. Streaming media data often suffers unexpected problems such as delay, loss and etc. due to the heterogeneity of the networks and the unsteadiness of transfer rate in the current Internet environment. All these influence the quality of the transfer. With simulation experiments this paper further discusses the influences of all the factors and the relationship among them and proposes methods to optimize the smoothness of network Audio/Video data.
