The development of modern radar is closely linked with Radar Signal Simulation. Radar signal simulator can generate all kinds of target signals and immit these signals into the radar system directly for debugging. It makes the process of designing and debugging of radar much convenience.The simulation of generating Linear Frequency Modulation (LFM) pulse-compression target signals for radar with FPGA is presented. The following research work includes:First, pulse-compression principle of LFM pulse-compression radar and the characteristic of LFM signal are expounded. The arithmetic for digital methods of matched filter in time domain and frequency domain are discussed and compared.Second, the project about using FPGA to design the simulator of LFM pulse-compression target video signals is put forward, and target signals when it is single-target or multi-target or outspread-target are modeled. The wave for specific target parameter are simulated, and matched filter in LFM pulse-compression radar in frequency domain is designed and simulated by digital method. They are all based on the argumentation about the ways and means of radar signal simulation.At last, the program by Verilog HDL which simulate the function and schedule about pulse-compression part of the simulator is designed ground on Quartusâ…ˇ6.0. Then, hardware circuit of the simulator is designed.
