For the limit of circumstance, service, cost ...etc, people could not always dispend real targets to debug the design in the process of designing a radar. A radar signal simulator can generate all kind of ersatz target signals. Immiting these signals into the radar directly may take great convenience. Radar signal simulator has been applied in lots of fields for it's agile, cheap, reality.This project come from a radar signal simulate system, the main task of this project is design a radar video simulator for pulse-compression radar. The modulate mode of the radar signal is Linear Frequency Modulation (LMF).By the idea of Software radio, we generate the LMF video signals of objects for pulse-compression radar in digital method with FPGA. Digital method has a lot of advantages in the generation of LMF video signals of objects for pulse-compression radar: high simulate precision, convenient signals compensate, may simulate complex signals, simplify the system structure, enhance the reliability and be easy to extend.In the first, the article introduced the structure of radar video simulator; then expatiated the theory of pulse-compression; contact to the characteristics of FPGA, put forward a scheme to design the simulator in digital method with FPGA; explained the theory and the design structure; written the VHDL program and some C program of the controlling computer; In the end, we realized the scheme with hardware, had a particular debugging, and also made a simple analysis to the design's performance. The scheme is realizable.
