The environmental foam masking agent which was used for photoelectricity resistance was studied in this paper. For forming stable foam, different surfactant solution was compared and the infrared extinction of foam was studied. The froth ability and the foam stability of surfactant solution were studied by means of Ross-miles method which had been modified slightly before application. The result indicated that when the concentration of dodecyl benzene sodium sulfate was 1.0%, the solution can froth most foam. When the concentration of polyethylene glycol 20000 and 6501(coconut fatty acid alkyl alcohol amidate) was both 0.2%, the stability of foam was the best. The infrared extinction performance of foam was tested with FTIR spectrometer. The result indicated that when the graphite was added into the foam, the infrared extinction performance was good. The average value of infrared transmittance in the wave band of 3~14μm was 15.2%. But the graphite affected the stability of foam. when a measured amount of glucose was added into the surfactant solution, the infrared extinction performance of foam was good. The average value of infrared transmittance in the wave band of 3~14μm was below 15%. And the stability of foam was good. The infrared extinction coefficient of foam was determined with FTIR spectrometer and infrared thermal image instrument. The result showed that the average value of the infrared extinction coefficient was about 0.18 m2·g-1 in the wave band of 3~5μm and 0.12m2·g-1 in the wave band of 8~14μm. The viewpoint that multi-interfacial feature of bubble was the main cause for the good infrared extinction performance was proved preliminary by changing the number of liquid-films and bubbles in the light path. The infrared extinction performance of discrete bubbles which was generated with the bubble machine was tested. The result showed that the infrared extinction performance of discrete bubbles was good. It provided guidance for the application of foam masking agent.
