With the development of scientific technology, premodern industry and scientific technology have the testing demand for high degree of accuracy, high efficiency, practicability and automation, but traditional method of optical testing cannot adapt itself to this trend. In the field of optical precision testing, however, the combination of optical technology and computer technology pioneers in the development of new testing method. It is one of the developmental directions in optical testing technology that the mode of intelligent loop-locked testing technology is realized by means of an integrated system of optics, machine, circuit and computer.With the continual development of polarizing technology, polarizers are increasingly wide used in technical fields of fibre-optic communication, polarizing guidance, optical modulation, optoelectronic detecting and optical sensor, etc. Extinction ratio, as one of primary optical parameters of polarizers, whose measurement belongs to the field of photometry measurement of weak light signal, and is totally different from the general photometric method. The measurement accuracy of extinction ratio can not only influence the precision of measuring and discriminating all kinds of polarization of optical radiation but also influence the detection and analysis of polarization response of optical devices and instrument system that have the transition nature of polarized light by making use of polarizers. Therefore, accurate measurement of extinction ratio of polarizers has very important meaning for the development of modern information technology.At beginning, the thesis introduces processing method of weak photoelectric signal in general, including correlation detection technology, sampling integral technology and photon counting technology.
