Compound Library Collection Quality Control

Collection construction is the basis and guarantee for library to implement every work. Collection quality level directly determines service quality level in the library and library's work level and the whole benefits. In the hybrid library, collection resources include traditional printing resources and digital resources, and the proportion of digital resources is increasing. However, present digital collection construction is blind and random, and lacks quality awareness. Therefore, how to control digital collection quality, how to deal with the relationship between printing resources and digital resources, how to deploy various collection resources reasonably, how to distribute and utilize outlays, assure emphasis, keep balance, and use limited outlays to purchase resources that most meet users' need and bring them into full display, have become important problems in the collection construction of hybrid library. Consequently, this article discusses the collection quality control in the hybrid library, in the hope of arousing the recognition of high quality collection resources. The article is divided into four parts.The first part outlines the meanings, content, significance and steering ideas of collection quality control of hybrid library. The second part discusses collection content quality control of hybrid library, including quality control of printing collection and digital collection, discusses how to select high quality collection resources. The third part discusses collection configuration quality control of hybrid library, introduces how to deploy various resources reasonably. The fourth part introduces the improvement of collection construction quality by collection quality evaluation and collection deselection, offering optimizing methods for collection quality control.In conclusion, collection quality control of hybrid library impenetrates the whole process of collection construction and library's development. It is a long and circular process. The quality control measures need improving and perfecting in practice, thereby to adjust policy, optimize decision-making, build high quality collection resources system, increase the whole service level of library.
