With the rapid growth of Internet application requirement, users have more demands for bandwidth and the reliability of network. But the only one network interface provided by a ISP is unlikely to meet users' bandwidth and reliability needs. At the same time, in order to serve more users' needs for router with high stability, high reliability, high performance and low price, distributed & parallel multi-port router(DPMPR) has been developed.DPMPR combines distributed & parallel technology and wide area network multi port technology. Distributed & parallel technology makes the DPMPR system have characteristics of high stability, high expansibility and high reliability. The use of multi port technology not only increases the export bandwidth, but also enhances the reliability of internal network and raises level of quality of service.This paper firstly introduces the development background of DPMPR system, research content and the main content.And then it discusses the related technology, concept and principle. It also introduces the related concepts about distributed parallel technology, the developing process and the present condition of researching. Besides, this paper analyzes the level framework of TCP/IP protocol, the realization of TCP/IP protocol in linux system, the relevant concept of QoS, and QoS mechanism in linux os, and gives more details about the principle of Netfilter/Iptables and it's accomplishment procedure.Next, it puts forward the traffic control scheme of DMMPR. The scheme adopts distributed parallel technology, which realizes dynamic control of users' flow. The concrete tactics as:Firstly,it can accurately control all users' network flow base on traffic control by user bandwidth.Secondly, setting priority for all users, keeping account of all live users' priority periodically, working out the available bandwidth for every user by the total export bandwidth, the scheme can make full use of interior network export bandwidth.Thirdly, synthesizing the above two tactics, the third tactic sets priority and bandwidth, and runs different scheme according to the total flow of DPMPR system. If the current system flow is less than or equal 40% total flow, it will not limit anyone's flow, forward all packets; else if it is less than or equal 60% total flow, it will run by the first class tactic; otherwise it will run the second tactic. This scheme can provide better quality of service for interior network user.At last, it proves the correctness, stability and reliability of flow control module by test.
