Laser ranging is method to measure distance by utilizing laser's characteristics. Phase ranging is an indirect method which calculates the distance based on the phase difference between signals. The thesis presents how to design and implement an ARM-based SOC for laser ranging. The SOC includes ARM7TDMI core for data processing, ADC, high-precision clock generator, automatic digital phase differentiator, LCD driver, memory block and related interfaces. In the paper, the error generation and processing on phase ranging are discussed. At the last, the paper explains how to construct a real laser range finder based on the SOC. The SOC described in the thesis can simplify the system design of range finder, improve the performance at the same time.
