With the development of Integrated Circuit technology, the chip's density rises very quickly. A system which consists of microprocessor, coprocessor and some other peripheral chips, could be integrated into one chip. The technology of one chip containing a system is called System-on-a-Chip (SoC). It's agile and low cost.Because SoC chips' density and frequency are getting higher and higher, and their time to get into the market is getting shorter and shorter, the designers incline to depend more and more on IP core in the designing of SoC chips. IP cores are of great importance in the SoC field, and are regarded as the groundsill of buildings. The methodology of IP core includes not only all classical techniques of IC such as test, verification, simulation and low power, but also many new research fields. With the exploitation of IP cores, we can design complex system in a short time.MIL-STD-1553B, the America military data bus standard, is an aircraft internal time division command/response multiplex serial data avionic bus standard. With the high reliability and agility, the multiplex transmission bus is widely applied in the airplane, warship and tank. The key to the 1553B bus system is to design 1553B protocol control chip.After thoroughly collecting and investigating the latest literature in the field of SOPC and 1553B protocol, we choose embedded PowerPC405 processor hardcore to construct the demanded SOPC system. In this paper, we introduce the basic structure and character of both PowerPC405 processor hardcore and Virtex-4 platform FPGA as well as the development instrument of both harfware and software. In the system integrated architecture, we ues the base on platform design. Every department is IP core. In the 1553B remote terminal design, we make the system model with the SystemC. It accelerates the speed of simulation. Then we introduce the detail design method of every sub-module and gives methods about function simulation. Last we give the drivers and application program, finish the full design of software and hardware.The method of design implements the seamless link of PowerPC and 1553B protocol controller, enhance the system's reliability and stability, lower power dissipation so as to realize easily, upgrade lightly, transplant expediently, achieve strong adjustability and expansibility. Through the test of RT controller, the feasibility of design was tested. It provided profound technical repertory for future chip design.The subject is supported by"embedded HW/SW platform development of subjects".
