The US communication systems of modern aviation are mostly based on MIL-STD-1553B, which is a command/response, time division, multiplexing techniques serial data bus with high reliaoility and flexibility. Although the data bus is established for aerospace applications, it has been widely accepted around the world in such unlikely place. The key to the 1553B bus system is the protocol processor. But at present, the chip products are manufactured overseas on the whole, and we do not have the key technology. Consequently it is very necessary to design and produce the IC in building national defense and developing national economy.After studying the MIL-STD-1553B protocol and the design of foreign chip products, learning the VLSI technology, this paper brings forward a wholly new design of the protocol processor based on IP core techniques, and details the design and simulation of the important modules. The resuits of the verification prove this design method is reasonable, and prepare for the realization of the protocol processor IC.
