J2ee-based Workflow Engine Design And Realization

To acquire preponderance over global competition, enterprise must rapidly response the requirements of market; constantly adjust their organization model and their business process. The Workflow technique just applied in various realms more and more broadly, an important applied branch of which is the Business Process Reengineering. The Workflow Management System is a tool to realize Computer Support Collaboration Working; it can realize the management of workflow entirely or partially automatically. It is convenient for reasonable disposition of personnel and resource,the supervision,examination of workflow to improve working efficiency.According to the reference model giving by the organization of the Workflow Management Coalition, Workflow engine is the core of Workflow Management System, which is the Task scheduler and Distributor resources of the enterprise business process. In the enterprise of which business process supported by Workflow, Workflow engine can be seen business operating system of the enterprise, which interprets the process description, controls the instantiation of processes and sequencing of activities, and so on. Therefore the performance and reliability of Workflow engine determine the efficiency and security of the enterprise business process directly. This paper being based on Workflow reference model which putted forward by Workflow Management Coalition, divides the functions of Workflow engine into hierarchical model, adopts Distribute Object Computing technique of EJB,JMS,JNDI, discusses the structure of Workflow engine, and explains a reference to the design and realization of the Workflow engine. Comparing domestic Workflow engine based on DBMS, the Workflow engine of the paper has certain superiority of independence, security, cross-platform, expansibility, efficiency, and resources use factor.
