Media Asset Management System Catalog Of Technology Applications Research

Nowadays, Media Asset Management (MAM) is a important topic of broadcast sector. Due to it's huge data , variety and complex relation, media information need high capability to process data, demand ultra-capacity data storing, high-width for transmission and processing; on the other hand, we must retrieve various data with complex relation. In MAM system, any data input database without scientific cataloguing, maybe it can not be found for ever.This paper discussed the shortage of the cataloguing sect of popular MAM system :1. Structure is too complicated. Cataloguing data is redundant.2. It is very difficult and complicated to deal with once the cataloguing standard changed or needed to be extended.3. Description of media content is difficult.On the basis of study and analysis of cataloguing technologies related to MAM, combined with his cataloguing experience , the author put forward the improving idea:1.Selected cataloguing terms should be convenient to use and accorded with practical application.2. MAM system should define the metadata under MPEG-7 standard, emphasizing description of inherence of video data, deriving from DC with the idea of unitary description, provide foundation for future content-based media information retrieving.At last, the author modified and expanded the existing cataloguing module and put it into practice.
