Video Retrieval Method Is Applied Research, Media Asset Management System

With the gradual development and merging of TV technology and IT, digital management of Audio/Video information - so-called Media Asset Management (MAM) become practical. But most MAM system organize and manage Audio/Video data with mode of traditional MIS, in this way the need of storing and transmission of Audio/Video data can be met, but text label still act as main processing object in video retrieval. This is a simple solution, but two crucial factors arise directly affect the efficiency of MAM system: one is that the abound content of video hard to completely describe by text label, the other is that manual labeling video content is a very time-consuming work. The efficiency of video retrieval is the core in application of MAM system.According the technical trend of video retrieval field and practice of MAM system, this paper studied the concept and technical standard of video retrieval, compared the text-based and content-based video retrieval, with this understanding, form a idea ofeffective video retrieval in MAM system: the key frame automatically extracted by MAM system should be ideal object, avoiding processing the complex moving characteristic of video, changing video retrieval into static image retrieval. Using the idea of multimedia description of MPEG-7 standard, adding vision characteristic label in cataloguing sect of MAM system to expand the retrieving space.At last, the paper summarized the study of technology of content-based video retrieval, discussed the goal of further study.
