Integrating Healthcare The Enterprise, IHE, is an integration solution based oncurrent information standards. By regulating the realization of DICOM, HL7 and someother standards, it improves the workflow integration of hospital information system, and it provides directional frame for seamless integration between different systems.Along with the development of digitalized ultrasonic technique, ultrasonicdepartment has become an important imaging department for a digitalized hospital.Applying the framework of IHE technique to integrate ultrasonic department deviceswith information system, and then optimizing clinical procedure, will reduce errors andimprove efficiency. This article introduces the concept of IHE technique framework, its history, and itsapplication status nowadays domestically and overseas. Being based on and startingfrom IHE Radiology Technique Framework rev 7.0.this article explains and analysesthirteen integrate profiles. By the inspection to some hospitals, this article shows thestatus of how ultrasonic department is using information system and the status of theModality; it also shows how HL7 and DICOM standards are implemented. Flaws arefigured out by analyzing the workflow status in ultrasonic department. In addition, combined with the reality of the ultrasonic departments in domestic hospitals, scheduledworkflow based on IHE is designed for the ultrasonic departments, actors andtransactions are defined to meet the requirements of realizing the model, and structuraldiagram is drawn representing the relationships between actors and transactions ofscheduled workflow for the ultrasonic departments. Furthermore, the transactions in theworkflow are depicted, and the options are selected. DICOM Gateway is used to realizethe integration of hospitals' non-DICOM equipments and ultrasonic department'sscheduled workflow under IHE framework. The ultrasonic department's scheduledworkflow under IHE framework can help to improve the automatization andoptimization of the whole ultrasonic exam procedure. Thus, it guarantees the bestdiagnosis and treatment to the patients. Moreover, it provides design basis forinformation system products, it provides smart integrating scenario to ultrasonic equipments of domestic hospitals, and it provides rational and expandable integrationframework to integrate the information systems with different structures.
