Coaxial vircator(VCO) is a gigawatt-class special charge microwave tube, is a high power microwave source based on Bremsstrahlung radiation produced by relativistic electronic beams oscillated in static electric field. It has a series unique advantage as: the structure is simple, without adscititious magnetic field, has two octave tune ability, its phase can be locked, it can generate microsecond- class microwaves pulse. Besides, vircator has low weight, and don't depend on inputted voltage pulse closely, and can generate high power microwave pulse. This paper analyses the theory of vircator, importantly study the character of diode, simulations diode by 3D-PIC code. A hardtube device has been designed depend on available experimental device, and the experiment succeed.Firstly, several parameter which influences microwave output of c-band vircator has been analyzed, In theory, several influence factors of microwave frequency has been analyzed , such as spacing interval between cathode and anode, width of emitting cathode, radius of cathode, input voltage. Many simulations about diode has done, the simulation result acts in accord with theoretical analysis.Secondly, a simulation keeping vacuum device had been designed and experiment succeed. The experimental result indicated that this device for keeping vacuum is feasible.Thirdly, a hardtube device of C-band VCO had been designed, the experiment for keeping vacuum is successful. Experiments of this device on three type of impulse power system succeed. The power of outputted microwave is above 600MW, the dominant frequency is 3.67GHz, the pulse band is above 40 ns, and efficiency is above 5%.
