China Telecom's Mpls Vpn Service Quality And Security Policy And Practice

China Telecom provided MPLS VPN service for its key customers to construct their enterprise VPN network among branches in year 2002, coping with the fierce competition among different operators. However, the service quality of MPLS VPN is highly affected by its low layer network, the IP network, which has the nature of transmission delay, jitter and packet loss rate. Furthermore, customers request for network redundancy in case of any failure and differentiated services. Therefore, it is vital for the successful launch of this service that we could provide end-to-end service quality between headquarter and branches or among branches.The paper focuses on the end-to-end QOS strategy, especially for local metro network by analyzing service inefficiency in current system. Meanwhile, it studies the technical measures of redundancy in case of MPLS VPN network failures. At end, it gives a proposal for the realization of QOS on Shanghai Metro Network by combing lab experiments.
