With releasing the concept of the network-centric warfare, the large scale platform communication system software does not match the requirements. According to studies, the requirements of C4I(Command, Control, Communication, Computer and Information) on the new application supporting environment has been developed. The architecture changes from the Open System Architecture to the Open Distributed Plug and play Architecture on the real-time environment.Based on the above requirements, a prototype platform for large scale communication system is developed that aims to support for technical design, development and enhancement. In this thesis, a large scale platform communication system is to setup to meet the requirements of a network-centric warfare theoretically and practically. The main works will be done by the author as follows:1) Author analyzes the development trend of military communication in Military power countries, especially in the U.S.A. and proposes the software architecture of large scale platform communication system according to the analyzed results;2) A system is setup based on the distributed computation and middleware TAO which is built on COBRA;3) Based on the current Open System Architecture, the plug-and-play technique is added into system, which enables the system ability to be flexibly upgraded and expendability; as well as to meet the requirements of new battle mode;4) To improve the reliability of the airborne communication system, the distributed redundancy and backup is researched. A reliable model of the distributed managing system based on main-subordinate backup is setup. Finally, the fault detection method used in the realization is depicted in detail.
