The Study Of The IED's "Plug And Play" Monitoring System In The Substation Based On XML

Substation Automation Technology develops very fast , national manufacturers have produced many kinds of IEDs of Substation Automatization System(SAS). But because of the incompatibility between the used network and communication Protocols, The IEDs in different manufacturers which are integrated in a substation system need transform the protocols, These can increase the cost and complexity of the system, reduce the system's reliability. Consequently, manufacturers and users imminently hope the related authority organization to draw an uniform standard, the IEDs in different manufacturers can have the interoperability.At present, IEC61850 is the newest national standard about communications network and system in substations. IEC61850 was worked out by IEC TC57, it was published in due form 2005, after several years' discussion. The main aim about working out IEC61850 is letting the IEDs in different manufacturers have interoperabilities, the IEDs can be integrated into a system conveniently. First, this paper introduces the developing background and researching actuality of IEC61850 , then analyses the SCL object model , describes the IED's configuration management from the three lays of substations. Finally, the paper introduces the "plug and play" monitoring system in substation in detail. SAS can add auto recognition module and remote configuration module, after the devices are installed in partition lay, the workstation and dispatching system auto update, enter the new device's information, get the protection setting value and other parameters by dispatching system directly, and configure it remotely on line. IEC61850 defines the special language SCL(Substation configuration Language) based on XML, SCL is used to describe the IED configuration information, we can transfer it in the net by the XML technology, then parse the IED information, bring it into the dispatching management system immediately, running in the dispatching system, realize the method of IED's "plug and play" monitoring system.
