With the development of information technology,network and intelligence, embeddedtechnology has been universally used, especially in design of communication andeletronic product.MPC8260is a high-performance and low-consumptioncommunication processer made by Motorola company, which can reach500MPIS whenthe kernel clock is at266M while the power consumption is less than2.5W. As anoperating system, VxWorks is designed specially for real-time embedded system designand development by Wind River Company, inhancing the efficience of real-time taskscheduling, interrupt management, real-time system resource management and real-timecommunication between tasks.Based on MPC8260processor and the real-time embedded system VxWorks, thispaper has studied the work of three communication controller (SCC,MCC and FCC)of the MPC8260communication processors, as well as the VxWorks systemnetwork-driven design, fast forwarding and BSP transplantation technology.It has alsodealt with the MPC8260and VxWorks-based communication module design, design ofmultiple link protocols of routers E1and Ethernet interface unit design, enabling rapiddata forwarding within ATM switching network.This subject has applied modular in design, which has improved product utilization,avoided the repeat deaign of a similar product, and completed the design of MPC8260communication module,which includes FLALSH, SDRAM, Ethernet interface andserial port, provides ATM and E1interfaces, and offers application-specific extensionsto improve module utilization,based on VxWorks operating system;It has elaberatelyintroduced Ethernet network driver based on the VxWorks system, HDLCmode-working drive under control of the MPC8260SCC, MCC communications, andthe FCC drive within ATM AAL5mode;Moreover, it has described Ethernet interfacebased on FPGA hardware forwarding,which enables the rapid data forwarding ofEthernet and E1interfaces based on ATM switching network, optimizes the fastforwarding mechanism of VxWorks system,and greatly improves the efficiency offorwarding; It has reached a conclusion that the data lines of Ethernet interfaces and packet length64bytes,512bytes and1500bytes all can meet the Ethernet interfaceforwarding efficiency,64byte length of message can reach70%of line rate ofbandwidth2M, and512byte and1500byte length of message can meet the E1interfaceline rate.
