One of the trend of modern radar development is Active Phases Array Radar (APAR), which is playing a more and more important role in the radar field. There are thousands upon thousands T/R modules in an APAR. In every T/R module, there are many cell circuits usually such as power amplifier, low-noise amplifier, limiter, T/R switch, circulator, beam-controller and so on. T/R module, which acts as a mini radar, can carry out manifold functions such as enlarging and transmission of the received or transmitted microwave signal, switch between receiver and transmitter, assigning weights or a weight to amplitude and phase, beam-controlling. The T/R module provides the base aerial for an APAR and is the core of an APAR, so its size,weight,function,quality,cost and reliability will directly influence the APAR's performance.In this paper, the author discussed the application and technology of T/R module in APAR, especially emphasized constitute, character and scheme of the T/R module. These key techniques are researched emphatically for the analysis of the performance about APAR T/R module, establishing the power capability for p-i-n diode control circuits, the control technique of the consistency of volume-producing T/R modules. Designing and manufacture of L-band high-power APAR T/R module is expatiated, as well as the result of the T/R module.
