The project is from the school of electronic and technology of UESTC. The objective of the project is to develop a ka-band transmit/receive(T/R) modules. The frequency of the modules including a 5-bits phase shifter is 35GHz±300MHz .The receiver's gain isn't lower than 20dB and 6~30dB attenuator is requested. The Gain and output power of the transmitter is higher than 20 dB and 700 mW .Through synthesized comparison and the possessive condition, the structure of millimeter hybrid integrated circuit is chosen as the target. As the frequency of Ka-band is very high, the research of phase shifter is very difficult worked in this band. The thesis designs and fabricates a T/R modules and a 4-bit phase shifter at the same time. based of the result of the 4-bit phase shifter, we test the modules.Chapter 1 is a survey of the whole dissertation. First, dissert the characteristic of millimeter wave simply; second, overview the millimeter radar and phased-array radar basic theory; third, summary development of T/R modules and phase shifter on domestic and abroad and give the international advanced level; later, briefly introduce the purpose and the main work of this thesis. In chapter 2, First ,gives the characteristic of microstrip., second, discusses waveguide-to-microstrip transition and low pass filter. At last, give a design of ridged wave transition and a low pass filter. Chapter 3 discusses millimeter control circuit. It includes four part contents. The first part introduce the performance of PIN diode. The next two part introduce the basic theory of millimeter switch and attenuator. The last part content give the classification of the phase shifter in detailed, the merits and shortcomings of every type. At the same time, we concretely analyse the design proceeding of phase shifter and measure the performance of it. Chapter 4 discusses the millimeter amplifier. First, establish the equivalent model of HEMT in small-signal and large-signal condition ;second, introduce the design methods of the low-noise amplifier and power amplifier respectively. Chapter 5 tests the function of millimeter T/R modules and gives some improving measures based on discovering phenomena during the testing. By studying the phase shifter, we find some problems noticed in the next design. All of those can provide important experience for later research on it.
