Gps / Gprs-based Vehicle Monitoring And Dispatching System

With the progress of the society and improvement of the economy, the quantity of vehicles keeps increasing. However, the development of the road construction has fallen behind the incensement of vehicle, which causes a serial of serious society problems such as more and more traffic-jams, accidents and so on. For the sake of the whole society, We must take measure to resolve the problems mentioned above.Supervising and controlling system of vehicle based on GPS had been applied in China from 1990s,but work able production appeared in 2000. These productions communicated by SMS(Short Message Service). But This system has disadvantage inhered: Communication fee is higher because of paying SMS one by one, and SMS also was delayed and dropped. This reduces the system real-time and reliability. In order to resolve disadvantage of the old system we made a new system that communicated by GPRS.Based on research of GPS, GPRS and related TCP/IP, we gave a design of new system as a whole, and the implement of software and hardware design of terminal on car, and software implement of supervising and controlling center,and transmission way of position data.The new system uses GPRS network for communication, because GPRS is a new technology and has an effect.It is more import that GPRS supports TCP/IP protocol, so data transmission becomes much easier and cheaper than it is done by SMS, and the function of system is easily expanded.Because of time the function that paper gave is limited, but it is the basic skill of a supervising and controlling system of vehicle based on GPS. With the research going on, the function may be more perfected. And this system may greatly improve benefit of the vehicles and enhance the capability of carrying trade. It will benefit us greatly.
