Network optimization plays a important role in mobile communication maintenance. The network optimization determines network service quality, deeply influence on the operation marketable development. The micro-cellular and sub-micro-cellular configuration of PHS leads to the difficulty of network programming and the telephone traffic absorbability, at the same time the PHS technology characteristic decides the long term and challenge work in network optimization field.Although in PHS system wired and wireless networks all require network optimization, however wireless part has the most affection in network due to many uncertainty factors. The performance of wireless part determines the quality of wireless network. Therefore the PHS network optimization commonly indicates the wireless network optimization.Wireless network optimization consists of the network cover, synchronization, switch, paging-area setup and so on. The optimization unit may be whole network, gateway, paging-area, base controller or base. In this paper, the network optimization methods for paging-area unit is presented. This method has been applied in wireless telephone network in the Zhengzhou city, the good results of network optimization to every PA has been obtained. The example of optimization for GW10-PA3 is given. It is very useful to the project implement.
