Virtual Space Teleconferencing System is based on video teleconferencing system. Participants appear in computer-generated virtual space as avatars, and these avatars can locate, view, manipulate virtual objects, communicate with others "face to face" in this space. Taking the sub-project of the 10th five-year-project as the background, the dissertation makes research on the theory of virtual conferencing space, the vision model of participant, and the method of synthesizing vision space.In this paper, first, we study the organization and interaction of virtual conferencing space, putting forward an awareness-based space model for sensing and interacting in virtual conferencing space.Second, we study the vision model of participant and establish a video-avatar based user model, then propose an effective video segmentation algorithm based on change detection and skin color. On the basis of these research, we analyze the computation model of synthesizing vision space, in order to complete video image synthesis, we study the theory of IBR and binocular stereo vision, and implement the algorithm of PDE based dense disparity map estimation.Last, the architecture of a prototype system(named VSTS) is designed, the main functions are developed and implemented on the basis of these research.
