Virtual reality is a new developed subject in the1980s,with the purpose of building a new kind of user interface, which makes user feels like engaging in the environment of3D data expressed by computer, and create a feeling of "on the scene personally". Stereo vision is an important part of virtual reality, and it could create images in real life the way human does, then transmit them to the eyes of user. It seems so true and users could feel like right standing there and watching. In recent years, medical imaging was developing fast, and algorithms and platforms of3-D display keep being improved. But there is a thorny issue to medical visualization, that is, the limitation of screen. Although it contains the whole3D inner data with the help of medical3D construction algorithm, there is still a lot of information being lost once being showed on screen. Therefore, how to bring in3D feeling with a2D screen is an important problem, and the answer is stereo version technique.Firstly, the paper studies the related technologies with stereo vision in-depth, and analyzes the desired technology and devices for the establishment of a complete stereo vision system. Then the paper compares some current stereo display technologies, and decides to use the stereo glasses as the method to display field according to the laboratory conditions. The system is divided to two parts according to the different stereo methods.:color separation system and polarize separation system. The former is developed aiming at virtual desktop, in this way we can see stereo vision on screen with common PC. The latter composes and displays stereo image with DLP (digital Light Processor).Image mainly comes from medical image device such as CT, MRI. As DICOM is an international standard in medical imaging and communications, this paper do the3D construction with ray casting algorithm at first, and simulate the way human observe, obtain two image form two viewpoints. Next, render the image based on stereo version principle. Last, analyze the effect of rotation and translation on stereo effect. The experiment shows that integrated with stereo vision, medical imaging contains more depth information and stereo perception.
