Computer Supported Cooperative Work aims to establish a cooperative working environment through computer multimedia and communication technique, in which people work together cooperatively for a product, a research field, a project or a academic problem.One of the important items of collaborative design patform is collaborative teleconferencing system, which is used for the communication of participiants throuth comprehensive information flows. The popular multimedia teleconferencing systems have many weak points, such as Lower group awareness,less interactive ways between group members,weaker spatial sense and realistic of teleconference. For that, the concept of virtual space teleconferencing system was proposed in the world.This paper researches on the establishment of virtual teleconferencing space which has a sence of space and realistic according to the features of virtual space teleconferencing system. First, the paper gives the overall design of virtual space teleconferencing system and function division in details, realizes the interface design. Then, realization techniques of virtual teleconferencing system are researched. In the aspect of three-dimensional modeling, modeling scheme of virtual object is given and construction method of realistic character model based on texture mapping is discussed. In the aspect of synthesis of virtual meeting place, realization idea based on DIS is given. In the aspect of interactive control of virtual space, path planning method is discussed based on the traditional visibility graph method. At last, Based on visual simulation software Vega, several techniques of distributed virtual teleconferencing space are realized. And integration of instant message software based on COM into the system is studied too.
