Status And Prospects Of Public Journalism In Our Country

In the late 1980's and early 1990's ,Public journalism(PJ) movement was brought forth in the United States, which aimed at changing the situation of the public's indifference about politics and mass media and restoring the trust the public had put in media .It is characterized by the media and the reporters should not only focus on the news reporting but on organizing the citizens in the discussion about public affairs and on seeking the solution to these matters .So I can say ,PJ is the kind of report about public affairs in which the citizen or the public participate.Currently it's a crucial period to our country's reform and development. New social classes rise and the pluralistic pattern of interests is forming which causes the social relation of interests more complicated. The goal of constructing harmonious society was proposed by our Party. PJ that spreads to our country at this time can build a platform in which the state, the society and the citizen could communicate and exchange to resolve the social conflicts and make the society harmonious.The first chapter in this paper is What Is the Public Journalism (PJ), which consists of its history and present situation in the United States , it's concepts, controversies, theoretical foundation and analysis by communication .The second chapter is the analysis of the status of public journalism in our country. The author first analyzed the reason that the public journalism had emerged and developed in our country and then pointed out one of our public journalism's characteristics that from People Journalism to Public Journalism by taking example for 1860 News Eye. Finally I summarized the whole characteristic of our public journalism's development now.The third chapter is the analysis of our public journalism's questions, countermeasures and prospects. Firstly I pointed out some thoughtful and actual operation problems our public journalism facing and then proposed the solutions from many aspects .Finally several suggestions were put forward to our public journalism's development from the macroscopic aspect and the microscopic one.
