| Economic news comment is a branch of news comment. Researching economic news comment, particularly its decision-making reference function, will play an important role to raise the level of economic news coverage, to better meet the needs of readers, to provide information services for policy makers and promote China's economic development and the reform process.The thesis major researched the decision-making reference function of economic news comment,with the induction and demonstration method. I selected the "Financial Watch" columns of CaiJing magazine, published from April 1998 to July 2005 which included 133 articles for samples. Through the research I found that the number of economic news comment with the decision-making reference function has been gradually rising in the recent years, and the function has continuously been strengthened.Economic news comment has the function of policy interpretation, reality and trend analysis, public opinion supervise and other functions. I considered decision-making reference function was very important, yet not enough attention has been paid.
