The Pulse/Pattern Generator has been wildely used in modern measuring and controlling fields, it can generate kinds of standard pulse signals and programmable user data to meet some special digital measuring requirements. And the digital waveform generating part, which can generate digital waveforms in given working modes, is the core of a Pulse/Pattern Generator.Based on the importance of Pulse/Pattern Generator, the work of this dissertation comes from the project"High Speed Pulse/Pattern Generator", which is taken on by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. The dissertation focuses on the process of pulse generating, and its main task is to generate pulse waveforms with adjustable parameters (including period, pulse delay, pulse width and etc). The technical characteristics of pulse generating are analyzed, a feasible pulse generating method is given and also the system structure of hardware is presented.The main works of this dissertation include:1. Demonstrating the basic principle and the working process of pulse generating, and the function of each part of this design.2. Using the method of DDS+PLL to generate the system clock and count clock which are synchronous.3. Based on the system clock and trigger input signals, using FPGA to generate trigger output signals in given working modes.4. Demonstrating the structure and design of the counter + delay-line module, by which the pulse waveforms with given pulse delay and pulse width delay can be generated.
