By the development of the micro-electronics technology, the LSI and the signal processing technology, the uncooled FPA technology which combines the thermal effect and the CMOS technology becomes one of the hot focuses in the field of infrared imaging. By virtue of its low cost and low power consumption, its small size and lightness, this technology is getting widely used in many applications, both military and civil. But there exists a prevalent problem: the response nonuniformity between each detecting unit of the uncooled FPA component, which degrades the detector's sensitivity and its resolution. To solve the problem, we have to do nonuniformity correction (NUC) to the output infrared images. In this work, we propose the software and hardware design of a real-time infrared image processing system based on DM642 (a TI's DSP product).High digital transport speed is required by the real-time image processing system; large quantities of operations should be finished within limited time. However, nowadays, the lack of the computing capability and the low data processing speed are two problems often met in the post processing of the infrared images. In our work, the up to date technology of DSP is applied in the post processing, in which the high speed DM642 is used. In contrast to other data processing equipments, DM642 shows its virtues in its high processing speed, its programmable ability, and its simplicity of circuit system, which suitably befits the real-time infrared image processing.The thesis is arranged as below: Firstly, the infrared imaging technology and the development of the DSP technology are discussed. The next part introduce in detail the framework of DM642, its instruction system and the related on chip peripherals. Following it, the whole system design of software and hardware is proposed; in this part, we emphasize the hardware design of each interface in DM642, present the circuit of each component; we analyze the complex and high speed logical control and timing, proposing the design and the implementation result; we analyze the signal transport mechanism and the real-time capability of the system; in particular, we introduce the design of the temperature control subsystem. Finally, a conclusion is made by summarizing the design method of the high speed digital circuit, anolog-digital mixed circuit and EMC which are employed in our work.
