At present, the Infrared Focal Plane Arrays (IRFPA) is represented the tendency of infrared detector, but the staring IR imaging system performance is crucial limited by the inherent nonuniformity of IRFPA. So the key problem needed to be solved in the IRFPA applications is applicable and real time nonuniformity correction technology. Based on a thorough and deep question of the generating mechanism and characteristic of the nonuniformity of IRFPA, this paper investigates and studies the kinds of existing nonuniformity correction algorithms, makes a comparison among these algorithms on advantage and disadvantage. According to the practical need, the paper put forward a new nonuniformity correction algorithm-adaptive linear subsection interpolation correction algorithm, which is the expansion of two-point correction algorithm. The approach is not only achieved the nonuniformity correction in large dynamic range, but also eliminated the effect of temperature excursion of detector responsibility on nonuniformity correction. Theoretical analysis and practice in computer's simulation has verified this approach's practicability and effectiveness. The approach of invalided detector cell (including blind cell and penetrating cell) automatic searching and compensation is also studied in this paper. To high frame rate 128X 128 focal plane device, a scheme of the hardware implementation system of real-time signal processing for FPA is also presented in this paper. The system has streamline hierarchy and parallel processing structure based on DSP(ADSP21062), having powerful data processing capacity. It can implement FPA data sample, data rearrange, nonuniformity correction, image enhancement, defect pixel automatic searching and compensation, video signal synthesizing and displaying, etc.
