MSTP technology is a muti-service technology which based on SDH technology, accessing operating and transmitting TDM, ATM, Ethernet service and providing united net management. RPR(Resilient Packet Ring) technology is a new technology based on layer 2 protocol used for media access control. It not only generates the cost advantage of the Ethernet technology, management advantage and living ability of SDH network, but increase fair service-accessing, topological finding ability, Qos guarantee ability as-well, and improving IP grouping digital service. All these advantage make RPR technology the first selection of layer 2 protocol used for MAC. In all the heart technology of RPR, fairness control algorithm is the key technology to implement a full fair mechanism all over the network and to guarantee a high ratio of bandwidth utilization.After analyzing deeply and reasoning carefully on fairness control algorithm, this paper brings forward the upper limit of bandwidth efficiency in theory at first. Thus under the guide of this theory, this paper deeply analyzes the fledged algorithm SRP-fa and find the defect of this algorithm, head congestion and point weight. Then this paper gives a new project which can solve these 2 defects. finally, the algorithm is achieved by dividing the project to 3 blocks and OPNET 8.0 is used to imitate this algorithm.
