The Study, Based On The Soc Bus Ip Core Package

The adoption of IP(Intellectual Property) technology has improved the efficiency of SoC(System on Chip) designing greatly.The choosing of OCB(On-chip Bus) and wrapping of IP are crucial steps in connecting IPs with chip.However,there is so many standards of OCB presently and the study of wrapping IP and wrapping criteria based on SoC OCB maybe give an approach to solve the integration of IP.The research topic is a part of the project 'The SoC Platform of Home Networking Center',sponsored by the '863 Plan' (No. 2003AA1Z1110) .On the base of study multi SoC OCB protocols and deep study of AMBA bus, the paper illustrates the research of wrapping IP based on SoC OCB,which takes wrapping IP based on AMBA bus as example and uses the progress of wrapping actual IPs as reference.The criteria of wrapping IPs based on AMBA bus is also put forward.Firstly,the paper introduces the background and the purport of research topic and the development of IPs' connection strategies home and abroad and the whole sollution of 863 project.Then some basic concepts like IP and SoC,as the foundation of the paper,are introduced.Thirdly,the paper focuses on the international modern OCBs criteria and bus interface standard and gives an introduction of AMBA bus protocol in detail.Fourthly,on the ground of studing of UART IP and I~2C bus controller IP,the whole progress of wrapping two IPs are shown in the paper and the criteria of wrapping IPs as slave device of APB is put forward.At last,the research of wrapping a wishbone slave IP to meet the demand of AMBA AHB is presented and the moudle of FSM(Finite State Machine) of wrapper circuit is illustrated.Based on the wrapping progress and considering different function of AHB,the criteria of wrapping IPs to be a slave device of AHB is brought forward.At the end of the paper,summarization and problem analyses of the research work are discussed and the prospect of the research work is discussed too.
