With the development of microelectronics technology,scale of integrated circuit increases at the speed of Moore's law. The number of integrated transistors doubles every 18 months. The technology of System of Chip(SOC)is the trend of very large scale integrated circuit. In SOC design, On-chip Bus can connect functional modules together, and facilitate the design of Intellectual Property(IP) Core. In all kinds of On-chip Buses available in the market, Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture (AMBA) which is designed and standardized by ARM company is one of the most popular industrial standards. In the AMBA system, the Advanced High performance Bus(AHB) can provide high performance and speed for communication between functional modules. The technology of AHB interface design is one of the most important SOC technologies.The high-efficiency image compression IP core is based on the still image compression standard JPEG2000. This IP core can improve the performance and quality of image compression, reduce the bandwidth, and improve the flexibility of the coding algorithm. But it is difficult to integrate this IP core in SOC because it is not specially designed for AHB.After introducing the AMBA protocol in details, this paper designed and verified an interface specially for the IP core according to the AMBA protocol. Through this interface, the IP core of high-efficiency image compression can be correctly connected to the AMBA, and then the IP core can be integrated in the chip with ease.
