Verifying the correctness of the final design is critical for complex chip design to meet the specification. It's reported that the success rate in chip tape-out is about 35%, which is mainly caused by no complete verification. As the scale of the design increasing, the workload and complexity of verification are expanding even more quickly. And there is growing concern about verification in academic and industry.The work of this dissertation is part of the National Defense Advanced Research Project (Grant No.41308010307). The author taking part in the design of PC/104 EPC SoC "Longtuim S2", was responsible in the design and implementation of the Inter Execution Unit in micro-processor core, and in charge of the scheme, including software verification platform and FPGA prototype platform, to verify the "Longtuim S2" chip design.The major contributions and achievements are summarized as bellow.Basing on the comprehensive studying on verification methods, testbenches and verification strategies, the strategy and methods for the verification of "Longtuim S2" are proposed according to its characteristics.Taking Inter Execution Unit as example, discuss the verification strategy and methods for module level verification.Set up the verification platform for the micro-processor core in "Longtuim S2", propose the techniques and plan for the micro-processor core. After learning the rules of the Instruction Set of the processor, design the way to generate pseudo-random instructions and pseudo-verify the design with the help of golden model.Devise a flexible BIOS structure to build "Longtuim S2" software validation platform with the help of the environment for the module level verification. The flexible BIOS structure provides instruction stream to micro-processor, meanwhile program the components in the soft environment to create the test scenarios.Design the FPGA prototype verification platform, and propose strategy for the structure.As a PC/104 IPC SoC chip, "Longtuim S2" is composed of micro-processor compatible with 486DX, peripherals controller, system controller, watchdog and so on. This paper creates the "Longtuim S2" verification platform, which makes sure that the work of verification in the development of the design goes well.
