Minipacs Dicom Services, The Design And Realization

PACS, which is implemented by a combination of modern computer system and networks, is a kind of information system applies to image of medicine. The main function of PACS is to obtain a film free environment and to standardlize the work flow of the Radiology Department in a hospital. DICOM is the international standard of PACS. MiniPACS is a kind of PACS which suits most medium to mini-sized Chinese hospitals, so it's quit serviceable.The thesis introduces the development of DICOM services required by miniPACS with the following steps. Firstly the paper builds up a database according to the characteristics of data processed by miniPACS and the the entity-relation model described in DICOM; And then gives out proper modifications to make up the scarcity of UCDMC99 to support multi transfer syntax, which enable miniPACS to function under the circumstances of PACSs from various venders. Based on the previous steps, the paper presents the implementation of the client end and server end of two DICOM services required by miniPACS, thus miniPACS can exchange and research image files of medicine with other devices. Moreover, the function of multi kind file storage under single association and the function of wildcard match under the environment without database are implemented. At the end of this thesis, a server end running mode is put forward, via which the server end can be transparent to the users and all the daemon processes are under control.The miniPACS developed in this research are better than the ones refers in the paper and it has been installed and been test-run in the Radiology Department of hostpitals, the results shows that all the expected function runs well. The research of miniPACS may prompt medium to mini-sized Chinese hostpital to be film free which°would make them to be more efficient and more accurate on their diagnose.
