Software Test Case Reuse

With the drastic development of software industry and its increasingly larger scale, software has become more complicated. As an important link in software quality guarantee system, software testing has got recognition from software enterprises. However, the opinion in which software development outweighs software testing hasn't got radical change. Testing work still serves as a supporting role of software development work, and the management over software testing is quite at will, leading to no insurance of the regulation and effectiveness of software testing. Consequently, software quality, development cost and delivery time can not be assured. How to increase software testing productivity is a problem which needs to be solved urgently.Reusability is an important technique for improving software productivity and quality. Significant academic and industrial effort has been put into the study of reuse in various phases of the software lifecycle, viz. requirements, design, and implementation (coding).But, The research of reuse has rarely involved the testing phase.Combined with national 863 project-"The Application and Research of Software Testing Platform", this thesis applies reusability to the testing phase, which mainly studies on the software testing reuse in acceptance testing phase. This thesis analyses the reusable testing assets and researches the reuse-oriented software testing model in acceptance testing phase. It offers two process frameworks. One is used to produce reusable test case, the other is used to produce test case which is based on reusable test case. And uses faceted classification scheme to classify and retrieve the reusable test cases in test case library. Based on the research of test case reuse, a test case library is designed and implemented.
