Vehicles can be guided by navigation system with both real-time updatable digital maps and GPS positing signal, at the same time all kinds of information can be provided to the drivers . High-grade navigation terminal has the function of CAR PC, so there is a broad application market for it in China. This paper is derived from the navigation terminal's research and design by COMPLINE LTD company .The development is imbursed by 863 National High Technology Research Plan (project number: 2002AA134050 ).What the whole paper achieves is a kind of high-grade vehicle navigation terminal. It has color LCD and beautiful outlooks, other than the function of navigation, as for communication: it is a kind of telephone and digital maps can be real-time updated by wireless communication; as for entertainment: DVD/VCD can be an attachment electronics books can be read, MP3 can be played, Gaming etc. Powerful software system makes the product has powerful function of system configuration and management.The paper discusses the importance of vehicle navigation system and the present status of vehicle navigation development in China, clarifies the necessity of developing vehicle navigation system that accords with the situation of China, brings forward the main technology of vehicle navigation system, which is based on embedded system, GPS and Wireless Communication Module. In the light of the feature of embedded system and the function of intelligent vehicle navigation embedded system the paper draws out the whole solution of embedded intelligent vehicle navigation system based on ARM9 and WinCE technology. The rock-bottom hardware of the embedded system including the circuit design of each module is described in detail. According to electromagnetic compatibility theory the paper givesthe based rules for circuit design. The printed circuit soldering and debugging is achieved.At last, the paper describes the software development of the system, the program development suit, debugging technique etc. The product and the introduction of the it is presented at the end of this paper.
