In order to solve the traffic problems of our cities and improve the urban transport system performance, one needs to transform road network system, widen the road, adding to transportation facilities and road construction necessary for urban transport "hardware" of the building to achieve and the need to through the use of scientific management methods, introduced into the modern high-tech traffic management to improve the traffic performance of the existing road network, thereby improving the overall road traffic management efficiency, improve the utilization of road infrastructure, urban traffic management to achieve scientific and effectiveness.Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a kind of collection, storage, management, analysis and description of all or part of the Earth's surface and spatial data on geographical distribution of space information systems. Among them, geospatial data is the core of GIS. The GPS feature allows us to use it for the GIS to provide location data and attribute data, as compared with conventional measurement methods, GPS in accuracy, efficiency and cost advantages are unparalleled. At the same time, GSI has also promoted the rapid development of GPS in GIS application.As we all know, traffic information and location is closely related to the use of GIS technology, intelligent traffic management system to build a common information platform, not only to keep traffic information in the space visually and clearly displayed, and was able to deep-level mining that information and follow-up information services and auxiliary decision-making space attribute support.This article is based GIS front-end data collection, introduce a low-cost and practical for GIS data acquisition system. It is achieved on the ground environment, and its latitude and longitude data acquisition mode selection and property settings, data classification Excel features such as host computer automatically generated for the realization of an important component of GIS information platform.This paper describes the composition of the GPS positioning theory, mode of operation and data processing, GPS in GIS data collection application, and based on the ARM7 microprocessor and uC / OS-II operating system, handheld data acquisition system specific to achieve given the corresponding solution.
