The internationalization of the competition and cooperation pushesenterprises to expand their markets and form their compact cooperation withmaking full use of regional resources. Served as a technology to manage therelative information and process during the course of products being made, PDMcan help enterprises to share their product data timely and support theconcurrent development of the product strongly.According to the current situation that PDM system is more and morewidely applied and much more requirements for it come out in enterprises, thepaper analyzes its key technology and systematic framework. Meanwhile, thepaper also makes a deeper study of each functional module in PDM system andthe basis of its realization—the establishment of the model of basic object in thesystem. Furthermore, it analyzes the process of the system implemented and themethod of the information module established in it, and from different levels itintroduces the information integration realized in system.Based on the extensive reference to the existed commercial PDM systemsand the embedded investigation to the medium and small-sized enterprises, theauthor proposes a module and system structure of PDM for one department. Thissystem bases on Windows operation system and has graphical interfaces. Withthe support of database technology and C/S network environment, grounded onproduct structure it establishes data module, organizing and managing productdata and finally realizing encapsulation of application programs. After thewhole frame of the system established, the paper provides the analysis of howthe product structure and configuration management are realized, gives adetailed introduction of how the product structure tree is established, offers areasonable explanation of how some specific functions such as the self-actingoutput of Bill of Material, product configuration management, data enquiry, datasharing, security and secrecy and the management of users'operation rights arecarried out. All those are done in accordance with the technology ofobject-oriented modeling and analysis of Product Structure and ConfigurationManagement. Therefore, the system is capable of satisfying the demand ofproduct data sharing, searching, and saving management in every department. Finally, this paper makes a prospect of the development of PDM technology.With the demand of constant development and new requirements of enterprisesfor the new technology, PDM products will tend to be more humanized, suitable,operative and scientific.
