Fieldbus is one of the focuses of the current technical development in automatic field. Fieldbus is whole scattered, intelligent, bidirectional, interconnected, multivariable and multipoint communication network which is used between local meter, control system and control room. And it is called as computer local network in automation domain. It can be developed spreadly in automated system in many aspects such as manufacturing industry, procedure industry and building. Since Fieldbus appeared in last 80s, there have been many types of Fieldbus, but they have not unified yet so far. In April of 2003 IEC61158 Ed.3 become the international standard. It contains ten types of Fieldbus in order to reflect the new development of industry network communication technology.PROFIBUS is one of the most important type among the ten types of Fieldbus. It is the German standard DIN 19245 and Europe standard EN50170 which consists of PROFIBUS-DP, PROFIBUS-FMS and PROFIBUS-PA. PROFIBUS-DP is researched and applied widely and is accepteded by all over the world.For FieldBus is a new technology in development, our country has just researched it in this domain. Our country is just at the first step in system application and production research. In this paper I introduce the protocol of PROFIBUS including Physical layer, Data Link layer and Application layer. Besides, I also introduce the message frame format, service type and the procedure of transmission. And I analyze the function of slave station, State Machine and the procedure of communication with Mater Station clearly. We can implement the protocol by using software or hardware. To achieve the high speed and reliability we design PROFIBUS-DP slave station by using SPC3 of Siemens.The PROFIBUS-DP distributed meter and control system has the function of data collection, control, communication and message display and so on. We have designed analog and digital node, including FBPRO-8DI, FBPRO-8DO, FBPRO-6RL, FBPRO-8AI, FBPRO-4AO, FBPRO-3TC, FBPRO-4RTD, FBPRO-PID. And we design the interface of PROFIBUS-DP of PMM2000 meter and circuit breaker. They have been put into practice and the result proves that the run is reliable and stabilize.We have written Device Database File (GSD ) for every slave station according to the difference between character and the function of every device, so users canmake PROFIBUS device plug and play. Users can configure PROFIBUS network with any configure software such as COM PROFIBUS and STEP7 and so on. We have test all slave station in the platform of every software and hardware, and it proves that they can meet the demand of the opening character of fieldbus.In addition, we apply self-adapting fuzzy PID to the design of the PROFIBUS-DP distributed meter and control system in my paper. Compared to conventional digital PID controller, self-adapting fuzzy PID controller is better. And self-adapting fuzzy PID controller is more suitable for the system while the math model is hard to confirm.
